Digital Learning Days

Students using a GCPS issued Chromebook will need to connect their device to their home network.  Once connected, they can log in the same as at school.

If the student is using a personal device, they should open a Guest Session in Chrome and add their GCPS Google account as a "New User" in the Google profile section.  Students logged into a personal device with a personal Gmail account will not be able to access all of the needed resources to complete Digital Learning Day activities.

How to Open Guest Mode

1. Open Google Chrome on your computer.
2. Click your Profile picture or icon in the top right corner.
3. Click Open Guest Profile from the menu.
4. Close the guest window when you want to exit and clear data

To add a GCPS account to your Chromebook:

1. Log out all users.  You will need to be on the log in screen.
2. Click on the profile picture in the top right corner.
3. Select "Add Chrome Profile".
4. You will be prompted to enter the student's Google email address.
   • Student Google email addresses are {firstname}.{lastname}{last 4 digits of student ID}@g.gcpsk12.org.
   • Example:  John Doe with a student id of 123987654 would have an email address of john.doe7654@g.gcpsk12.org
   • Please note these email addresses are not able to send and receive emails from outside the domain.
5. Click "Next"
6. On the student portal screen, your child will sign in with their username and password to log in.

Please use a guest browser or log out of all other Google/Gmail accounts prior to logging in to your Student Portal or the child's GCPS Google account.  Students logged in under a personal Gmail account will y not have access to the needed documents to complete digital activities.

Students in grades K-2 have ONLY multi-factor authentication.  In the unlikely event that a K-2 student has a device, they should already know their pictures.  Students in grades 3-5 have a 12 character password and multi-factor authentication.  Students have practiced logging in multiple times and should be able to login easily.  Some students may have the password written down inside their device.  Please check to see if the password is present first.

Should a student have an issue logging in and lock themselves out of the portal, please wait 15 minutes for the lock to reset.  After 15 minutes should you still have log in issues please contact your child's teacher via Parent Square.

Your child's teacher will already have assignments for your child in Google Classroom.  Students access their Google Classroom from their Student Portal.  Your child will need to navigate to all classrooms, including their specials assignment (Art, Music, STEM, Health, or PE).

Parents may assist the student with properly turning in assignments by following these steps:

1. Close the assignment.
2. Go back to the Google classroom for that subject.
3. Click on the Classwork tab to see all the assignments for the class.
4. Click on the assignment you wish to turn in.
5. Click on "View Assignment" which is in the bottom left corner of the exposed window.
6. Find the "Turn In" button and click it.
